📍 Where is Tabarka Island?
The island is located approximately 8 km from Santa Pola and 22 km from Alicante .
It can be reached by boat, private yacht or as part of a sea tour .
The island is about 1.8 km long and 400 m wide. Despite its modest size, Tabarka preserves a real culture and the spirit of antiquity .
🏰 History and atmosphere
Once a hiding place for Berber pirates , the island was later fortified and populated by Tunisian fishermen.
Today Tabarka is a historic village with cobbled streets , an 18th-century church and cozy restaurants. There are no cars or rush here - only silence, seagulls and a light breeze from the sea .
