Four companies bid to run Tabarka Island Environmental Education Centre

The Municipality of Alicante allocates 14,000 euros for the development of cultural, tourist and environmental programmes in CEAM

Alicante, 14 July 2025 - Four companies have submitted bids to manage the Environmental Education Centre (CEAM) on the island of New Tabarca . The future contract will be for 4 years, with the possibility of two additional 1-year extensions. The starting price of the contract is €14,000 , with offers for increases open.

The following companies are participating in the competition: Tramuntana Aventura SL, Club Náutico Santa Pola, Javier Sala and Esatur XXI SL The next stage is the opening of economic proposals and the selection of the winner, who will be approved at a meeting of the city administration.

🎯 Project goals and prospects

According to Vice Mayor and Head of the Environment Department Manuel Villar , the project aims to reactivate CEAM, expand ecotourism and educational visits , and improve overnight accommodation for groups of up to 30 people.

“We are not looking for profit. Our main goal is to provide schools and tourist groups with opportunities for environmental education, learning about the nature, culture and history of Tabarca Island , and strengthening the principles of sustainable development,” Villar emphasized.

🏝 About CEAM

The centre opened in 2006 and operates in conjunction with the New Tabarka Museum . CEAM has a multi-purpose hall, bunk beds and facilities for up to 30 people. The centre offers programmes on ecology, history and tourism , aimed at fostering respect for the island's natural and cultural heritage.
