First International Marathon Elche-Alicante 2025: medals with silhouettes of the Lady and the Face of the Sea
Alicante, August 11, 2025.
The first Elche-Alicante International Marathon Race, 42.195 km, organised by Club Atlético Montemar, will start on 30 November next to the Altamira Palace in Elche. The unique feature of this event is the medals with the silhouettes of the famous Lady of Elche and the Face of Mora. The back of the medals is left free for personal engraving of the name of the participant and his result.
To date, more than 3,500 runners from more than 40 countries have registered for the marathon. The organisers expect the number of participants to reach 5,000, after which registration will close. You can register on the official website maratonelchealicante.com. The leaders in the number of participants are Great Britain, Italy, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the USA. In Spain, the most actively represented provinces are Madrid, Albacete, Almeria, Barcelona, Vizcaya, Caceres, Castellon, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Girona, Guadalajara, Lleida, Murcia, La Rioja, Salamanca, Segovia, Seville, Toledo, Valencia, Valladolid and Zaragoza.
The marathon route is almost flat – the maximum altitude is 80 meters above sea level in Elche. From there the route descends smoothly to the zero mark in the Ciudad de la Luz area, then follows the plain to the finish in the port of Alicante (Muelle 12, Ocean Race zone). The distance is divided into three parts: 11 km in the center of Elche, 20 km between the cities and the last 11 km in the center of Alicante.
In addition, the marathon will host the Valencian Community Marathon Championship, which has been included in the calendar of the regional athletics federation since June 2025. Previously, this championship was held at the Valencia Marathon.
