🎉 Calasancio College wins first youth prize in Fogueres Escolars competition
📚 Students of "Medico Pedro Herrero" win again with a fiery composition about the magic of books
Alicante, 16 June 2025 – The Blue Room of the Alicante City Hall hosted the awards ceremony of the 19th edition of the Fogueres Escolars (School Hogueras) competition. The winner in the youth category was once again the Calasancio College with the composition “Languages, a common treasure” , which presents a cultural path through the Spanish, Valencian, English and French languages taught at the school. 🏆
🔥 Winners in the children's category
🏅 The students from CEIP Juan XXIII – Médico Pedro Herrero also repeated their success from last year with the hogera “The Door to My World” – a touching composition dedicated to the magic of reading and the world of books.
🖼️ Design Prize: Aesthetics and Meaning
The Manuel Porras Trophy for the best design and composition in the senior category went to IES Figueras Pacheco-Bacarot for their hogera “Ignite ideas, illuminate the future,” dedicated to sustainable development. In the children’s category, the trophy went to the Jesuit Education Foundation – Centro Este for “Tree of Life,” where all the students are united by an invisible thread of unity.

🎊 Supporting traditions and fostering values
Festivities Advisor Cristina Kutanda thanked the schools for their “care and efforts in preserving the traditions of the hogeras, promoting values through original creativity and involving students from an early age in the cultural life of the city.”
📜 Official address by the mayor: Hogeras as a point of unity
After the ceremony, Cutanda presented the official message (Bando) for Hogueras 2025, placed on the façade of the new City Hall building. The mayor of Alicante, Luis Barcala, called on the residents to “make Hogueras a symbol of unity and good coexistence”, calling the event “an unforgettable meeting point for all citizens”.
🏗 Preparations for the main hogera "Identity" have already begun
🚛 On the night from Monday to Tuesday, eight long trucks will deliver to the Plaza de la City the structural elements of the official hogera "Identidad" by the artist Pedro Espadero. The installation of the main parts is planned to be completed by Wednesday, June 18, when 95% of the installation work will be completed.
👧 The H2O children's hogera will be installed by the morning of the same day so that children can see it before the first fireworks display.
🎆 Opening of the Mascletàs competition
At 2:00 pm, the Pirotecnia Crespo company from Alzira will open the 35th Mascletàs competition in the Plaza de Luceros, marking the beginning of a fiery festival that unites the hearts of the city's residents and visitors.
