Elite handball returns to Alicante with the 1st International Tournament "City of Alicante"

The 1st International Handball Tournament "City of Alicante" will be held in the Pitiu Rochel Sports Hall from 12 to 14 August 2025. Three teams will take part in the tournament: Horneo Eón Alicante, which recently entered the Liga Asobal, Fundación Agustinos, a team from the Primera División, and the strongest German club MT Melsungen, which took third place in the Bundesliga last season. The matches will start at 21:00.

The cost of a three-game season ticket is only 25 euros for adults, children under 12 years old are admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult. Also, about 500 club subscribers will receive free entry after purchasing a season ticket on the team's official website.

The director of the city's sports department, Manuel Villar, stressed that Alicante is a city of handball and holding such a tournament in the local "temple" of sport is an important event for all fans. The tournament will be an excellent opportunity to see the debut of the Horneo Eón Alicante team in the Liga Asobal and to really enjoy the game with the participation of leading clubs.

The tournament will be a prelude to the new season, which starts in September, and promises many exciting moments for local fans. The opening of the Liga Asobal season is scheduled for September 13, when Horneo Eón Alicante will face the champions, FC Barcelona.
