Traditional concert to open August festivities in Alicante
Alicante, August 5, 2025.
On Thursday, August 7, at 7:30 pm, a traditional music concert will be held in the Plaza de la Ville, which will open the series of festivities in Alicante and its surrounding areas. The Municipal Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Pedro Lara, will perform classical Spanish paso dobles and folk melodies as part of the Verano de músicas series, organised by the Alicante Department of Culture.
Which areas celebrate and when?
7–10 August – festivities in Portell de la Moleta and Nou Alacant .
- Portell celebrates its 30th anniversary, celebrates the Virgin Mary.
- Nou Alacant returns to tradition after a break.
August 14–17 – large-scale celebrations:
- Altozano - festivals of the Moors and Christians, a ceremonial parade and religious processions.
- San Roque - the alleys will be decorated with new altars, they will honor the memory of Maria Pereto "La Boti".
- Barrio Obrero – in honor of Mary Helper: parades, water games and giant paellas.
- Verdegás - centuries-old traditions, a concert-serenade by Esther Rodriguez.
August 21–24 – Fontcalent honors Saint Rose of Lima:
- Romeria through nature routes and the festive "touribus".
- The return of the queen of the FAFBA children's festival - Noa Cutillas.
August 22 – events start in San Agustín (79 years of tradition):
- Morning procession, return of the orchestra from Tombol, tribute to fireworks artist Pedro Luis Sirvente.
28–31 August – Summer finale at Ermita del Moralet :
- In honor of the Immaculate Virgin and St. Anthony of Padua. Family games, growing number of participants and a return to popular origins.
In August, Alicante turns into a festival capital with a rich program of festivities in every district. From concerts and processions to historical reconstructions and street festivities, every resident and visitor to the city will find an event to their liking.
