Alicante announces a tender for €149,000 for the development of the Master Plan and restoration of the Teatro Principal

Alicante is launching a tender for €149,000 for the Master Plan and comprehensive restoration of the Teatro Principal, one of the city's most emblematic cultural sites. The tender for the preparation of the design documentation includes the restoration of the building's façade, as well as the modernization of the auditorium to improve safety, comfort and accessibility for all visitors.

The master plan will be a strategic document that will define in detail the actions for the preservation, restoration and use of the theatre in the short, medium and long term. During the development, a thorough analysis of the technical condition of the building will be carried out, and the priorities and urgency of the upcoming work will be assessed.

Infrastructure Deputy Cristina García stressed the importance of the project: “Our goal is to improve the conditions of use of the theatre, ensure safety and accessibility, while preserving its historical and cultural value.”

Particular attention is paid to the creation of technical documentation, including graphic plans, inventory and study of furniture and stage equipment, acoustic and architectural-pathological studies - fundamental materials for subsequent restoration.

The Principal Theatre opened in 1847 and seats over 1,000 spectators. The neoclassical building is a cultural heritage site and is protected as a local monument. The project will help preserve the historical significance of the theatre and ensure its modern, comfortable functioning for future generations.
