Alicante approves youth assistance program with up to 3,000 euros in rent

The city administration subsidizes rent up to 800 euros per month with assistance of up to 250 euros for 12 months

On 15 July 2025, the Alicante government approved a new support programme for young people aged 18 to 35, aimed at facilitating their independent living. The programme provides for subsidies for housing rentals with a maximum amount of 3,000 euros per year.

Youth Rental Assistance Program Terms

• The maximum subsidy amount is 250 euros per month for rent up to 800 euros.
• Assistance is provided for a period of up to 12 months per year, with a total amount of up to 3,000 euros.
• Young people aged 18 to 35 are eligible to participate, with priority given to families with unemployed members, large families, single-parent families, and families with disabled members.
• The subsidy is paid in one amount per apartment, regardless of the number of tenants.

How to apply

Applications will be accepted within 30 calendar days of the publication of the conditions in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP). Submission of documents is possible through the electronic portal of the municipality in the section "Youth".

Support for young tenants and social housing

Municipal representative Cristina Cutanda stressed the importance of the initiative aimed at supporting young people in housing matters. In addition to financial assistance, Alicante is actively developing the construction of social housing for young families.

In particular, a plan has been approved for the redevelopment of a building in the San Gabriel district, with the creation of 14 new apartments for rent to young people, with a budget of over €1.1 million. The construction of 15 apartments in the old part of the city is also being completed, a project worth €1.4 million, which will be completed in the second half of 2025.
