Alicante, July 30, 2025.

Alicante City Council has received funding of €2,152,706 from the Valencian Competitiveness Institute (IVACE) to carry out modernisation and innovation projects in five key industrial zones of the city: Las Atalayas, Pla de la Vallonga, Aguamarga, Llano del Espartal (Ocaña Avanza) and the Mercalicante influence zone .

The allocated funds cover 89% of the total requested amount (EUR 2,424,280), which will be a significant contribution to the development of the city’s industrial infrastructure.

What projects will be implemented:

  • Pla de la Vallonga - construction of a multifunctional centre for meetings, training and office services (465,588 euros out of 545,684 - 85%).
  • Ocaña Avanza (Llano del Espartal) – modernization of lighting, installation of CCTV cameras, improvement of green areas, urban furniture, sports fields and street navigation (470,000 euros out of 578,597 – 81%).

The city invests in the future

As María Carmen de España , head of the Department of Employment and Development, Generalitat (Valencia Government) has stressed, the bulk of the modernisation costs will be borne by the Generalitat. This will help to strengthen the economic attractiveness of Alicante and create new jobs – the city has already been responsible for 43% of new jobs in the province over the past year.

Comprehensive development plan

As part of the strategic plan, the City Council is continuing to transform nine business zones in the city into "consolidated and advanced" industrial areas. The Las Atalayas zone has already received the highest category - Área Industrial Avanzada , enshrined in the Industrial Zones Act of the Valencian Community.

The development and implementation of the projects is managed by Impulsalicante (Local Social and Economic Development Agency) in collaboration with the departments of infrastructure, urbanism and mobility, and with the participation of EGM , the management organisations of the industrial zones.
