The municipal police's FOX unit carried out 120 operations in July against illegal street trading on the Alicante coast and in tourist areas, including San Juan Beach , Avenida Nisa , Paseo de Gomis , Postiguet and Explanada de España .

The focus was on unauthorised trade in both non-food items (mainly textiles) and food products – water, drinks, fruits and vegetables sold on beaches.

🛍️ Confiscated counterfeits: T-shirts, bags, shoes

A large quantity of counterfeit products was seized:

  • 720 sets of football uniforms
  • 206 bags and wallets
  • 48 pairs of shoes
  • 52 items of underwear

Also confiscated were legal but illegally sold goods - pareos, scarves, bedspreads and mandalas.

🔥 2,000 kg of counterfeit goods destroyed

On July 22, police destroyed 2 tons of counterfeit goods at a city landfill. These were goods seized since Holy Week (Semana Santa) - a total of 408 cases are underway.

👮 Increased control and night patrols

Since mid-month, the Department of Public Safety has stepped up its controls:

  • 4 additional police officers - at Explanada, Gomis, Postigueta and the port
  • 4 agents - on San Juan beach

Patrols operate morning, afternoon and night , including a shift until 01:00 at night to cover peak times for unauthorised trading.

🤝 Coordination with the Port Authority

The city administration is preparing an agreement with the Port Authority of Alicante to establish joint raids and patrols in port areas where illegal trade is also widespread.

💬 Quote from an official

"Our goal is to ensure compliance with the rules of use of public space and stop illegal trade, often linked to the violation of intellectual property rights," said Julio Calero , security adviser.

Alicante is actively fighting illegal trade: in July alone, 2 tons of counterfeits were destroyed, the police carried out 120 raids, increasing control on popular tourist routes. The city is betting on safety, order and the protection of consumer rights and legal businesses.
