Traffic restrictions in the Rabasa fountain area in Alicante due to water main works
Works at Via Park: traffic restrictions from 4 to 29 August
Alicante, 1 August 2025. The Municipality of Alicante announces the restriction of traffic in the area of the Rabasa Fountain roundabout (Gestor Administrativo glorieta) due to the installation of a reclaimed water network for the irrigation of parks and gardens. The works will be carried out in two stages from 4 to 29 August and will affect one of the city's key transport arteries, Via Parque .
What will be closed and when?
🔹 Phase 1 (August 4–15):
- The eastern section of the interchange between Avenida Jaime I and the roundabout is closed.
- Traffic remains open between Boulevard Teulada and Avenida Jaime I, and from Jaime I to Avenida Universidad.
🔹Phase 2 (August 16–29):
- The western section between the exit onto Jaime I and the exit into the ring road is closed.
- The road is open from Avenida Universidad to Jaime I and further to Paseo Teulada.
Who will suffer from the changes?
Drivers should be careful - the work will affect:
- entrances to the commercial area of Rabasa ,
- access to the university campus ,
- exit and entry towards the A-70 motorway .
Also, visitors to the August concerts in the Área 12 zone should plan their route in advance to avoid delays.
Alternative routes and signs
The Municipal Mobility Service will install the necessary signage and diversion plans to minimise confusion and direct traffic to the adjacent Via Park roundabouts . The work will aim to be completed by 8 September to avoid disruption to the start of the new academic year at schools and the University.
Temporary inconvenience for the sake of a sustainable water supply
The city is taking important steps to upgrade its infrastructure ecologically : a reclaimed water network will reduce the consumption of drinking water for irrigation. Despite the temporary traffic problems, the project aims to improve urban services and the sustainable development of Alicante .
