
Alicante Mayor Redistributes Powers: Finance to Beldjilali, Sports to Villaru
Following the resignation of Tony Gallego, Mayor Barcala signed a decree on the new distribution of responsibilities in the municipality
📅 Alicante, June 17, 2025 - Luis Barcala, Mayor of Alicante, has approved a new distribution of powers within his government. This decision follows the resignation of Toni Gallego, who was previously responsible for the economy, finance, sports and property issues.
🔁 What has changed in the municipality structure
According to the new the mayor's decree coming into force On Friday, June 20, the following redistribution of duties took place:
- Naima Beljilali is now responsible for:

🏛️ Municipal property - Manuel Villar, Vice Mayor, is in temporary charge of:
🏃♂️ Sports
⚖️ Legal advice
🌿 Environmental sustainability and green spaces
🧹 Cleaning and waste management
📑 Contracts and tenders
👥 The rest of the lineup remains unchanged
Other changes in the composition of the city administration:
- Begona Leon: Social Welfare, Seniors and Family
- Cristina Garcia: Infrastructure, Citizen Participation and Rural Areas
- Julio Calero: Security, Immigration, Volunteering, Personnel
- Carlos de Juan: Transport, Mobility, Housing and Youth
All other advisers will continue to perform the functions assigned to them since June 2023.
