Alicante Mayor Redistributes Powers: Finance to Beldjilali, Sports to Villaru

Following the resignation of Tony Gallego, Mayor Barcala signed a decree on the new distribution of responsibilities in the municipality

📅 Alicante, June 17, 2025 - Luis Barcala, Mayor of Alicante, has approved a new distribution of powers within his government. This decision follows the resignation of Toni Gallego, who was previously responsible for the economy, finance, sports and property issues.

🔁 What has changed in the municipality structure

According to the new the mayor's decree coming into force On Friday, June 20, the following redistribution of duties took place:

• Naima Beljilali is now responsible for:
  🖼️ Culture
  💶 Economy and finance
  🏛️ Municipal property
• Manuel Villar, Vice Mayor, is in temporary charge of:
  🏃♂️ Sports
  ⚖️ Legal advice
  🌿 Environmental sustainability and green spaces
  🧹 Cleaning and waste management
  📑 Contracts and tenders

👥 The rest of the lineup remains unchanged

Other changes in the composition of the city administration:

• Begona Leon: Social Welfare, Seniors and Family
• Cristina Garcia: Infrastructure, Citizen Participation and Rural Areas
• Julio Calero: Security, Immigration, Volunteering, Personnel
• Carlos de Juan: Transport, Mobility, Housing and Youth

All other advisers will continue to perform the functions assigned to them since June 2023.

🗓️ When does it come into effect?

• 📌 June 20 is the date the decree comes into force

• 📃 Will be published in the Official Gazette of the Province and on the electronic portal of the City Hall

• 🏛️ June 26 — the redistribution of powers will be officially presented at a meeting of the municipal council
