🔄 Large-scale update of uniforms and equipment for the entire Alicante police force
The City Council of Alicante has awarded a contract to Insignia Uniformes SL for the supply of new uniforms, accessories and protective equipment for local police officers and mobility agents . The total contract value is 852,500 euros , divided into two lots.
This is the latest step in the modernization of municipal security services , which complements the already completed replacement of 250 bulletproof vests, weapons and vehicles , carried out in 2023.
♻️ Eco-friendly approach: organic cotton and recycling of old uniforms
As Julio Calero , the security adviser, noted, the new uniform will be:
- made from organic cotton without microplastics ,
- provide protection from ultraviolet radiation ,
- be recycled according to a special certified protocol after wear.
🚔 Updated fleet and new patrols
At the same time, the city hall is preparing to purchase another 27 police cars under the leasing system. Also, in 2024-2025, the following have already been added:
- 9 BMW motorcycles
- 9 Ford Kuga SUVs
- 6 new patrol cars
- 3 SUVs for the Countryside
- 2 service vans
The total budget for the equipment is about 600,000 euros .
🧑✈️ Staff expansion and new headquarters
Since the beginning of the summer, 16 new mobility agents have been added to the police force, completing the formation of a summer beach patrol of 38 people . In total, the Alicante police force currently has around 500 officers , but new recruitment processes and an expansion of the command structure have been launched.
By September 2025, the final phase of construction of the new police headquarters on Locutor Vicente Hipólito Avenue will begin. Completion is scheduled for April 2026. The new complex will improve:
- working conditions,
- staff training,
- transition to a district police structure .
📢 Campaigns and high ratings from tourists
The police are actively conducting information and control campaigns on issues such as:
- rules for using electric scooters,
- safe handling of pyrotechnics,
- compliance with the speed limit at the entrances to the city,
- cleanliness and waste disposal.
👥 Based on surveys of more than 4,000 cruise ship tourists , police work received a rating of 4.7 out of 5 , which was the highest rating among all city services .
