Alicante to host European Mobility Week from 16 to 22 September

Bike ride, walking routes, competitions and traditional coastal Ciclovía

From 16th to 22nd September, the City Hall of Alicante is organising the European Mobility Week , which aims to promote sustainable transport, walking and the use of personal mobility as an alternative to the car.

The program includes the traditional Ciclovía Litoral on September 21, when the section from Puerta del Mar to Villajoyosa Avenue will be closed to cars and entirely dedicated to cyclists and scooters.

New items of 2025

  • Family bike ride "By bike to Urbanova" (September 20) along the southern coast of the city, a route of 6 km.
  • Photo contest where the winners will receive Móbilis transport cards for 30 trips.
  • Reopening pedestrian routes and holding master classes on riding electric scooters.

Walking routes

From September 16 to 18, three walks will be organized:

  • September 16 – through the parks of the center (start from Paseíto de Ramiro square).
  • September 17 – along Via Verde and the beaches of Almadraba and Albufereta.
  • September 18 - the historic center and the Santa Cruz quarter (from the City Hall square).

Participation is free, online registration is required.

Cycling activities and master classes

  • September 16–22 : master classes on checking and adjusting bicycles, as well as consultations on the use of electric scooters.
  • September 19 : Biciescuela for schoolchildren, a joint bike route through the city with the support of the police.
  • September 20 : Family bike ride in Urbanova (11:00–13:30, starting from Paseo Policía Nacional).
  • September 21 : Ciclovía Litoral – free movement on bicycles and scooters along the embankment. There will be a children's car town, an obstacle course and information tents. All registered participants will receive souvenirs and have a chance to win one of three bicycles.

Why participate?

According to urban mobility adviser Carlos de Juan , the aim of the measures is

"invite residents to give up their personal cars, open new routes, learn to use electric scooters and bicycles, and most importantly, make the air cleaner and the city more comfortable to live in."

European Mobility Week in Alicante will be a celebration of sustainable transport, family fun and environmental awareness, with bike rides, walking tours, competitions and free workshops.
