
More than 500 people have already appreciated the gastronomic menus of “Alicante – the gastronomic capital of Spain”
Alicante, July 30, 2025. More than 500 people have already had the chance to try the signature menus created especially for the project “Alicante – Gastronomic Capital of Spain 2025” . The best establishments of the city – Santabar Dani Frías, La Muralla (Tabarca Island) and La Favorita – presented signature dishes inspired by the traditional cuisine of the region.
According to Lidia Lopez, advisor for trade and restaurant sector, “these menus have become true gastronomic reference points: they feature local recipes adapted to a modern presentation and the highest quality.”
What do the guests try?
The menu includes dishes with seafood, vegetables from the coast and meat from the mountainous part of the province. Among the highlights:
- destructured coca amb tonyina ,
- soparet in Alicante ,
- octopus tacos ,
- squid potera ,
- quisquilla shrimp carpaccio ,
- artichoke confit ,
- tomato with dried fish capella torrat ,
- Salad with eggplant, cauliflower and crispy crumbles (mollitas) .
Where to try?
🥇 Santabar Dani Frías in the Santa Faz neighborhood reimagines the traditional cuisine bar. Dishes include the famous croquette, a finalist in the Madrid Fusión competition, char-grilled chicken with wild boar sauce, and truffle puree.
🥈 La Muralla , located on the island of Tabarca, serves authentic arroz a banda and caldero tabarquino , fish dishes that have become the pride of Mediterranean cuisine.
🥉 La Favorita , on Poeta Quintana Street, offers classics with a twist: coca amb tonyina croquettes, artichokes, and the exquisite pluma iberica with truffle potato parmentier .
New impetus for tourism and gastronomy
The award of the Gastronomic Capital status has been a major boost to Alicante's restaurant sector. The project has not only recognised the contribution of chefs and restaurateurs, but has also strengthened the city's position on the European tourist map.
According to Lydia Lopez, “Alicante has become an example of how to preserve tradition and at the same time move forward, creating culinary quality recognized at national and international level.”
