🛡️ Increased security on Alicante beaches: 38 police officers on daily patrol

📢 Campaign slogan: "Your cooperation is our strength"

The Alicante municipality is launching a campaign to increase beach safety during the summer season. Since June, 38 local police officers have been on duty every day along the coast, covering key holiday areas: El Postiguet, La Albufereta, San Juan, La Almadraba, Urbanova and Tabarca Island. San Gabriel beach is covered as part of the regular patrol.

🚓 Where and how does enhanced control work

  • 28 police officers patrol the five main beaches daily.
  • 2 officers are working on Tabarka Island, with additional presence on weekends.
  • San Juan Beach gets additional benefits:

2 officers on the beach on weekends, 2 mobile officers on ATVs on Saturday and Sunday.

  • 8 police officers service the patrol boats.

👮 What do beach patrols do?

Police officers perform not only security functions, but also:

  • Provide advice to vacationers,
  • They distribute printed leaflets with rules of conduct,
  • They explain the meaning of beach flags (whether swimming is allowed or prohibited),
  • They monitor compliance with sanitary standards , prohibit trade, massage and the presence of dogs (except in permitted areas).

🏖️ Safety on every site

  • El Postiguet : 4 officers from 9:00 to 16:00 - monitoring parking, street trading and cleanliness.
  • San Juan : 2 cops on ATVs + 2 on Niza boardwalk.
  • Marine Patrol :

2 boats on the routes Urbanova – Postiguet – Albufereta and Almadraba – San Juan – Cabo de las Huertas.

Open daily from 10:00 to 19:00.

🆘 What is included in the information leaflets

The advice brochures cover:

  • Colors of flags and what they mean,
  • Restrictions on swimming and navigation (200 m from the shore and 50 m from the rocks),
  • Prohibition on:

Trade and massage on the beach,

Presence of pets outside designated areas.

👥 Increase in staff and new equipment

Since June 12, 16 new officers have started serving in the city police, most of whom are involved in the beach program. The municipality is also strengthening its material and technical base:

  • New uniform and equipment (vest, weapons),
  • Fleet update:

    9 SUVs,

    9 BMW motorcycles,

    6 new patrol cars,

3 four-wheel drive vehicles for rural areas,

    2 service vans.

🚦 Additional security initiatives

The beach campaign is complemented by other measures in place since the beginning of the year:

  • Control of electric scooters and mobility aids,
  • Monitoring pyrotechnic effects and fireworks,
  • Keeping the speed limit when entering the city,
  • Control over cleanliness and waste removal.

Alicante is focusing on safe and comfortable summer holidays. Increased control, new resources and direct work with residents and tourists make the city's beaches even safer and more enjoyable.
