
Alicante continues to implement energy efficient lighting: modernization in Lonja del Pescado
💡 Modernization of the lighting system has started in Lonja del Pescado
🏛️ The Municipality of Alicante continues to implement its strategy for energy saving and modernisation of public spaces .
📋 The next step is the approval of the health and safety plan , which will allow the installation of energy-efficient lighting in the Lonja del Pescado Municipal Exhibition Hall building to begin.
💶 A contract worth 136,112 euros was signed with Sociedad Ibérica de Construcciones SA , which will dismantle the old lamps and install new ones that meet modern standards of light quality and sustainable development .
🎨 Modern lighting is already being implemented in key cultural sites
🔧 The works in Lonja del Pescado complement the lighting modernization projects in such iconic places as:
🖼️ Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante (MACA)
🏰 Santa Barbara Castle
🛍️ Central Market
⚽ Sports facilities of the city
🗣️ “We continue to consistently implement our plan to reduce energy consumption and improve the quality of lighting in the city’s leading cultural institutions,” said Naima Beldjilali , Cultural Advisor.
💬 “The updated lighting in the Lonja del Pescado will be a real qualitative leap and will improve the visitor experience at the exhibitions,” she added.
🇪🇺 Financing from European sustainable development programs
💼 The project is implemented with the support of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (Next Generation EU) .
It is part of the sustainable tourism development and energy efficiency programs, along with work in MACA and other municipal buildings .
🔋 New lamps: less energy - more quality
💡 Replacing outdated lighting systems with energy-saving models , specially designed for museum premises , will ensure:

✔️ Improving the quality of exhibition lighting
✔️ Aesthetic improvement of space
📌 In the case of MACA , the modernization of the lighting of the entire building was approved in September 2024 and transferred to the management of the company Sociedad Ibérica de Construcciones Eléctricas (SICE) .
💰 The project budget was 350,642 euros .
