🏫 New specialized training center CEE El Somni in Alicante is closer to implementation
📌 More than 12 companies bid to build the €7.7 million facility
Alicante, 14 June 2025 - The new El Somni Special Education Centre (CEE El Somni) project is making great progress, with 12 construction companies having applied to participate in the tender for its construction. According to the latest meeting of the Municipal Contracts Commission , the project is generating significant interest and is approaching the implementation stage.
Construction period: 22 months
Budget: 7.7 million euros
Program: Edificant (Generalitat Valencia)
🏗️ Construction under the Edificant program
The project is part of a large-scale regional initiative called Edificant , aimed at modernising educational infrastructure . The new centre will be located on a 10,483 m² site between Isla de Corfú Avenue and the PAU 2 area.
Large companies are participating in the tender, including:
Torrescámara , CHM Obras , Doalco , Asch Infraestructuras , Abala , Ecsa , Vias y Construcciones , Edifesa , Guerola Transer , Gestaser , Aitana Servicios and others.
According to Education Advisor Maricarmen de España , the large number of participants indicates a high level of business confidence in city projects and promotes healthy competition that is beneficial for the city.
🏫 What will the new CEE El Somni center look like?
The center will include:
- 12 classrooms
- 106 study places
- Building area : 3,543 m²
- Open usable area : 1,960 m²
🔲 Architectural solution
The building will be designed as a square structure with a central open courtyard providing natural light and ventilation . The rest of the site will be allocated to landscaping , playgrounds and recreation areas .
🧩 Functional spaces and infrastructure
In addition to classrooms, the center will be equipped with:
- 🧑🏫 The office of the director and the head teacher
- 📚 Library
- 🏥 Medical center
- 🧠 Speech therapy, sensory stimulation and rehabilitation rooms
- 🤝 Consultation rooms and a room for parents (AMPA)
- 🍽 Dining room and kitchen
- 🧑🍳 Rooms for teaching everyday skills
- 🎵 Media and music halls
- 🎙 Radio and television studio
- 👥 Psychologist and social worker offices
- 📦 Warehouse and technical premises
🌿 Green area and improvement
Most of the site will be allocated for:
- ☘️ Green areas
- 🧸 Children's playgrounds
- 🏞️ Patio and recreational areas
CEE El Somni will be a modern, accessible and functional space for children with special educational needs in Alicante. Thanks to the Edificant program and the active participation of construction companies, the city is taking an important step towards inclusive and quality education .
