
The City of Alicante has joined the Declaration of Archives: a step towards preserving historical memory
🤝 Joining forces: Alicante, the Diputación, the University and the Generalitat sign an important agreement
Alicante , June 3, 2025 - The Municipality of Alicante , through the Department of Culture , has officially joined the Declaration of the Alicante Archives , aimed at preserving, protecting and disseminating the historical and documentary heritage of the province.
📍 The ceremonial signing of the document took place in the building of the Alicante Diputation .
The participants were:
🎓 Naima Beljilali , City Councilor for Culture
📚 Pilar Tebar , Secretary of Culture of the Generalitat
🗂️ David Arasil , MP for Innovation and Document Management
🏛️ Josep Ochoa , Secretary General of the University of Alicante (UA)
📌 The main goal of the agreement is to pool resources and improve access to information
🔍 The signatories agreed:
📑 Preserve and protect documents as part of the historical and cultural memory of the region
🌐 Ensure transparency and the right to access information
🤝 Implement joint projects , including:
- Educational routes
- Scientific conferences
- Excursions and open days
- 📖 Support for students and training of archivists
🛡️ Particular attention is paid to responding to emergency situations - natural or man-made disasters that threaten the safety of the archive.
