⚠️ ATTENTION! Fraudulent scheme with fake fines and QR codes on cars spotted in Alicante
❗ City residents received fake parking fine notices
📵 Never scan QR codes or enter personal or banking information
Alicante, June 5, 2025.
The City Hall of Alicante officially reports an active attempt at fraud involving the placement of fake fine notices on the windscreens of cars near the Central Market .
The fake receipts were found on the streets of Poeta Quintana, Manuel Antón, Campos Vasallo, Belando, Capitán Segarra and San Juan Bosco , and it is possible that they will spread to other areas of the city .
ORA inspectors have already confiscated all counterfeits found, but authorities are urging citizens to remain vigilant.
🔎 What does a fraudulent notification look like?
The fake receipts contain a QR code that leads to a malicious website that imitates a fine payment portal. The goal is to steal personal data and banking information .
🔒 Important!
Never scan such QR codes.
Do not enter any bank card details or personal information under any circumstances.
🛑 How to distinguish a fake from an official fine?
✅ Official fine:
- It's called: "Boletín de denuncia"
- Contains the logo of the City of Alicante at the top
- Instead of QR - a barcode with a case number
- The type of violation and payment link code are indicated.
❌ Fake:
- The name may differ
- QR code leads to a fake website
- There are no logos of official bodies
👮 The police are already investigating the incident
The city authorities have forwarded the information to the National Police , which has launched an investigation. The Security and Mobility departments are also involved, working with the Municipal Police to monitor the situation and warn citizens.
📢 Appeal to the residents of Alicante
"We ask all citizens to exercise maximum caution and report suspicious notifications to the police. Don't be fooled!" the municipality said.
🛡️ Be careful - scammers are always on the alert!
If you find a suspicious fine on your car, do not panic , do not scan the QR code and contact the police or city hall to verify the authenticity of the notice.
