🚛 Alicante steps up cleaning during the "Hogueras" festival - over 100 extra workers
🎉 Special program for cleaning the city and beaches from June 15 to 30
Alicante, 11 June 2025 - In preparation for the great Hogueras de San Juan festivities in Alicante, the municipality and Netial are strengthening the city's cleaning system, adding more than 100 employees to the usual staff.
💬 “This coordinated plan, together with the Fogueres Federation, has shown excellent results last year and will be even more effective in 2025,” said Vice Mayor and Councillor for Cleaning and Waste, Manuel Villar .

🏠 Door-to-door waste collection
From June 19 to 25 , daily garbage collection from barracas and rasos will be organized in three shifts:
- 🕓 04:00 – 10:00
- 🕙 10:00 – 16:00
- 🕓 16:00 – 22:00
For this purpose , 1100-liter containers with individual markings will be installed, which can only be taken out for the time of removal. In case of their absence, dense bags for selective waste collection will be used.
👥 Additionally, from June 18 to 20, Netial staff will conduct an outreach campaign among participants to explain the details of the door-to-door system depending on the location of the barracks.
🚶 Cleaning of the center and popular areas
🧼 The city center will be cleaned by 8 specialized crews :
- Employees with blowers
- Hand Sole
- Watering machines
- Compactors and garbage trucks
- Hydrocleaning and aromatization
🕔 Morning start - from 05:00 , and afternoon check - from 12:00 .
🕓 The start time of garbage collection has been changed to 04:00 , and not at midnight, as usual.
🔥 Night of San Juan and La Cremà
📅 June 23 (Night of San Juan):
- 5 trucks
- 5 front loaders
- ➕ 30 additional workers
📅 June 24 (La Cremà night):
- 113 workers
- 36 trucks
- 15 loaders
- ➕ Cleaning streets from burnt structures and debris
📆 From June 26 to June 30 - additional watering intensification in the districts to restore order.
🏖️ Clean beaches every day
🗓️ From June 18, a summer beach squad of 28 employees will begin work, who will ensure daily cleaning of the sand after evening and night events.
🚻 Additional toilets and the fight against violators
🚫 Mobile toilets and urinals have been installed in areas where large numbers of people congregate.
💸 For urinating in public places - a fine of 300 euros according to the new Municipal Cleanliness Standard (OML) .

- After the daytime “masklet” at 14:15 – additional cleaning at 17:00
- Pinoso Street - separate regime from morning to evening
- Evening cleaning of urns and streets - from 21:00
- Cleaning of neighborhoods and barracas - from June 19 to 24
