
Alicante renews lifts in San Blas social housing: 7 new lifts for €330,000
🛠️ Large-scale modernization for the safety and comfort of residents
📍 Alicante, 2 June 2025 - The Alicante Municipal Housing Board continues to implement the project to modernize the elevators in social housing in the San Blas district .
🔹 This time, a new public procurement for 329,953.09 euros has been announced to replace the seven remaining lifts out of a total of 16 to be renovated .
📊 Work has already been completed to launch four new lifts on Antonio Martín Trenco Street, installation of the fifth has begun, as well as the renovation of four lifts on San Raimundo Street , including the replacement of control panels .
🚪 Where are the new elevators installed?
✅ Elevators have been put into operation at the following addresses:
No. 8, entrance A
No. 10, entrance A
No. 12, entrance B
No. 14, entrance D
🔄 Another elevator is currently being replaced:
📍 No. 8, entrance C , - it previously served the other stairwells during the renovation.
💼 Project in numbers: €600,000 for a complete modernization
💬 As reported by Housing Councillor Carlos de Juan , the project aims to improve safety and accessibility for all residents:
"We are completely renewing the lifts in the San Blas social housing buildings, and the total value of the two contracts will exceed 600,000 euros ."
📦 The first contract is almost completed, the second is currently undergoing a tender , within the framework of which they will replace:
🏢 3 elevators (Antonio Martin Trenco St., No. 8 entrance B, No. 10 entrance B, No. 12 entrance A)
🏢 4 elevators (street No. 14, entrances A, B, C and E)
🧰 Who is doing the work?
🔧 The contractor is Otis Mobility SA , which won the first tender for €299,873.57 , divided into two lots:
📦 Lot 1 — €111,230.46
📦 Lot 2 — €128,671.40
🚧 Calle San Raimundo: Update without service interruption
🏗️ On San Raimundo Street, in houses No. 17 and No. 19:
Work in building No. 17 has been completed, permission from the Industrial Inspectorate is awaited
In house No. 19, installation began on May 14
🔄 Elevator service is maintained - at least one lift is always in operation in each entrance

🌱 According to de Juan, the elevator upgrade is part of a comprehensive program to improve the housing stock :
“We are not only upgrading existing lifts, but also renovating vacant apartments and developing new social housing for rent – with a particular focus on supporting young people and their independent living .”
