Alicante rewards schools for promoting healthy lifestyles

In honour of World Food Day, the Alicante City Hall held a ceremony in the Municipal Centre of Isla de Cuba, where the Healthy School 2025 awards were presented to the schools of La Condomina, El Valle and San Antonio de Padua. More than 7,000 students from 70 schools in the city took part in activities organised by the Consumer Resources Centre of Alicante (CERCA), including lectures, competitions, workshops and excursions.

🏆 Main rewards

  • Promoting Healthy Eating : La Purísima and San Francisco-Franciscanas schools were recognized for their “Add Flavor to Life, Move!” project, which included cooking classes, school gardens and sports activities.
  • Promotion of physical activity : Santísima Faz School received an award for its School Tourism initiative, which encourages walking, including routes of up to 12,000 steps to the Santa Faz shrine.
  • Promoting Sustainable Consumption : IES Figueras Pacheco Secondary School was awarded for its project “Sustainable Consumption is Possible”, aimed at raising awareness about sustainable consumption and the circular economy.

🎨 Competitions and creative projects

  • Culinary competition "Pencil and Spoon" : Students of the 6-B grade of the Virgen del Remedio school presented an inclusive project with Arabic tacos, hercha, mint tea and fruit cocktails.
  • Video Contest "I Will Eat Healthy" : San Antonio de Padua School Wins with "Mission FV" Video.
  • Storytelling Competition “Stories for Better Nutrition” : Santísima Faz School third grader Yahya Datif was awarded for his story “Be Healthy”.
  • Drawing Competition "The Color of Food" : Adriana Sofía Sarango, a second-grader at Santísimo Sacramento School, won a prize for her drawing.

Municipal Councillor for Consumption, Trade and Markets, Lidia Lopez, congratulated all participants, stressing that the healthy habits they acquired would help them lead a better quality of life in the future.
