
🌿 Alicante intensifies the work of the Environmental Education Centre on the island of Tabarca
🏝️ New impetus for tourism, culture and ecology in Tabarka
Alicante , 8 June 2025 - The Municipality of Alicante has announced the reactivation of the Environmental Education Centre (CEAM) on the island of New Tabarca . At the last meeting of the City Council, a decision was taken on a public tender for the provision of environmental, cultural and tourist development services for the centre for a period of 4 years, with the possibility of an extension of another two years.
🔸 The starting budget for the project is 14,000 euros , although proposals to increase the amount are welcome.

🔹 Expanding opportunities for ecotourism and cultural programs on the island
🔹 Development of infrastructure to accommodate groups and individual visitors
🔹 Strengthening the role of the center as an educational and cultural space
💬 Deputy Mayor and Environmental Advisor Manuel Villar noted:
"Our goal is to revive the vigorous activities of CEAM by providing quality services to schools and other interested groups. The center will not only be a platform for educational and tourist programs, but also an opportunity to stay overnight."

📍 An important aspect of the project is not making a profit , but creating conditions for environmental and cultural events aimed at:

According to Villar:
“We propose a concession model for a symbolic fee to make CEAM accessible to educational institutions, research groups and tourists.”
