
🚧 Alicante to activate special traffic scheme for the Festival of Lights from June 17
📅 From Tuesday, June 17 , from 7:00 am until 8:00 am on June 25 , a special traffic management scheme will come into force in Alicante in connection with the celebration of the lights of San Juan (Hogueras de San Juan) .
🎉 The events will cover the entire historic center , setting speed limits of up to 20 km/h , opening access checkpoints and changing the operation of public transport .
🚦 Traffic restrictions in the center
🔒 The center of Alicante will be partially closed to private vehicle traffic:

Ave. Dr. Gadea , Federico Soto , Marvá , Benito Pérez Galdós , plaza Musico Oscar Tordera , st. Poeta Carmelo Calvo , Padre Mariana , plaza Santa Teresa , st. Cuesta de la Fábrica , Vázquez de Mella , Doña Violante , ave. Juan Bautista Lafora and Ramón y Cajal .
🛑 Completely closed to general traffic :
pr. Alfonso el Sabio and pr. Estación , with admission only for:
- 🚑 special services
- 🚕 public transport
- 🚗 residents with permission
- ♿ cars for people with disabilities
📉 The speed is limited to 20 km/h - for the safety of pedestrians , who are given priority on the streets.

🔁 The Alicante Department of Transport strongly recommends:
❗ Avoid traveling by private car
✅ Give preference to TAM and TRAM buses, which operate without interruption
💬 According to Carlos de Juan , urban mobility adviser:
"🚗🚫 During these days, it is better to leave your car at home or in a park and ride. Use public transport to get to the center, decorated with monuments, barracks and festive squares (racós) ."

🔥 Installation and burning (plantà y cremà) of lights
🚛 From 1:00 to 6:00 am on June 17 — the first delivery of structures is permitted
📦 From 9:30 on June 17 to 6:00 on June 25 — restrictions on entry of large vehicles apply
🏕️ The barraques and racós will be in place from 9:30 on June 18 until 7:00 on June 25 , after which the streets must be completely cleared.
