🌌 Пещеры Канелобре — подземное чудо провинции Аликанте

🌌 Canelobre Caves - an underground wonder of the province of Alicante

A unique natural formation in the heart of the Costa Blanca

🕳️ What are the Canelobre Caves

The Canelobre Caves ( Cuevas de Canelobre ) are one of the most impressive natural attractions in Spain, located in the mountains near the village of Busot, just 24 km from the city of Alicante.

This underground system is known for its majestic stalactites and stalagmites, as well as fantastic acoustics reminiscent of a cathedral hall, which is why it is often called an "underground concert hall".

📜 A bit of history

Although the Canelobre Caves were formed over 7 million years ago, they were not officially discovered until the 19th century. During the Spanish Civil War, the caves were used as secret warehouses and workshops, and later became a tourist attraction.

They got their name from the stalactite formation that resembles a “candelabra” (a multi-stemmed candlestick) – one of the most recognizable symbols of the caves.

🏞️ What can you see inside

🔹 Huge underground halls with a height of up to 70 meters
🔹 Stalactites, stalagmites and columns formed over thousands of years
🔹 Fantastic shapes resembling animal figures, candles, towers
🔹 Light installations that highlight natural beauty

The temperature inside is stable - about 18ºC all year round, making a visit comfortable at any time.

🎶 Concerts in caves

Thanks to its unique acoustics, the cave hall is regularly used for chamber concerts. Imagine: a live musical performance in a hall where the sound bounces off the walls that are millions of years old – pure magic!
