🏛 A Brief History of the MARQ Museum
The Archaeological Museum of the Province of Alicante was originally founded in 1932 and was located in the provincial government building. But in the 2000s, the museum moved to a more spacious building adapted to modern perceptions - the former San Juan de Dios Hospital .
In 2004, MARQ received the prestigious European Museum of the Year (EMYA) award, the first such recognition for a museum in Spain. Today, MARQ is considered one of the most advanced archaeological museums in Europe .
